False Image

At best, we worship an incomplete image of God, since none of us can truly comprehend Him. Many have a false image of God, which is worse. Whether you believe in your heart that God is a tyrant, an apathetic observer, your cosmic vending machine, an tool in case of emergency, or something else, it explains why you’re trying to make it through life on your own.

A few posts ago, I wrote that you can’t have a relationship with someone you don’t trust. If you don’t see God in the right way, you won’t trust Him.i could go on for weeks and weeks about the different aspects of God, even posting a couple times a day. That might get you thinking about how God is to be viewed, but it won’t really change your mind. You have to see it for yourself.

I have an assignment for you all: I want you to take some time this week and see if you can find verses in the Bible that say God is each of the following:

1. Loving
2. A good Father
3. Always there for us
4. Willing to bless us when we follow Him
5. Our Savior
6. A holy and righteous Judge
7. Omniscient
8. Omnipotent
9. Merciful and forgiving
10. Worthy of praise

Try to find at least two verses (that are not back-to-back verses) to support each. Also, think back in your life about when you’ve seen God behave in these ways. Doing this exercise will help you have a more well-rounded picture of God. He’s not just one of these things; He’s all of them and so much more.
